healthy muffins

I am trying really hard to get into shape. I have a hard time staying motivated. It is a lot easier when you have a friend or two who are on board with you. I love also finding healthy recipes to try...this is one that I've tried a few times and it is really good. Also gluten free and sugar free. It is really quick to make a batch you do it in the blender....it really doesn't get easier than that!
Simple ingredients

I put a couple chocolate chips in each one...

They got a little brown this batch but still delicious

I think they taste better when they are cool and have had time to set. Enjoy!

Coffee Bar Makeover

A few months back I decided it was time to update a sorry old buffet I had in my dining area.
Before
I wanted to create a coffee bar. So I did lots of research on Pinterest to figure out what I wanted.

This is the look I decided on:
Buffet Furniture Makeover - via Turnstyle Vogue. I love the color with wood top:

Antique Buffet, Dresser or Sideboard - Distressed, Wood, Painted Furniture, Vintage:

So it was time to get to work.  I decided to use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Duck Egg Blue for the body and restain the top in Walnut.

Rachel & my daughter sanding the top

I should have taken more pics along the way, but I was too busy... and I always forget to take pictures

After stripping, sanding, and staining the top, I put 3 coats of  Varathane semi-gloss Polyurethene.

Before painting, I sanded some spots (since it was old) and wiped it down. I applied 2 coats of chalk paint. Then came the distressing... this part took the longest, but I love the way it came out. Finally I applied the Annie Sloan clear wax.

Top stained and body painted

Added knobs from Cost Plus
Here it is all finished and back in the house.

Thanks to Lizette Monique Studios I got this awesome chalk board to decorate and finish my coffee bar!

gonna try harder

Let the title speak for itself I guess. I haven't been a very good blogger buddy. My last post was so long ago I didn't even remember what it was. Gonna include all sorts of randomness in my posts from things that I find that are cool to projects I am working on to things happening in my life. If you wanna join me for the crazy ride that is my life I would love to have you here and comment so that I can get to know you too!

This year has been a crazy one already. I was so excited that I was able to go to Europe this spring with my Dad we had the best time in our crazy, go to a different place every two days for 3 weeks, kinda way. I was exhausted at the end of our trip but we were able to see so many amazing things and places. We went to France, Switzerland and England. I have been to France and Switzerland before but England was a new one for me. Boy was it fun. I have always wanted to go, having watched WAY to many old movies set in England, and it was nice to finally see some of these things in person. Will post more later I PROMISE this time...

craft fair

Anona and I are again giving ourselves MORE work and putting on a local craft fair. We hosted one in the spring, had a lot of fun, and hoping to actually make this a more regular thing.
The event will take place at an awesome local coffee shop CAFE NOTO!
Located at 630 McClelland Drive in Windsor Ca.
They will also have a barista on staff so you can get delicious coffee to drink while you peruse the crafters tables...
We hope you are able to make it and say hi. We will have all our new products from our Etsy store available and new fabric choices that we are SOOOO excited about!
hint, hint....think blue!!!

If you are interested in participating in the craft show please contact us. We would love to get more people involved :)

Teacher Appreciation

All three of my kids are in school this year (yay!), and I really liked all their teachers!!  I actually missed teacher appreciation week, but I still wanted to make something for the kids' teachers before the school year was over. So I decided it would be a fun project for the kids to paint picture frames. It took me awhile, but I finally made my way to the craft store to get the supplies.

These cute frames were on clearance at Michael's for $2.99

I got these letters for each of the teacher's last names

And I got these wood shapes for only $0.29 each

Each of the kids picked out their own colors and wood shape they wanted on their frame and the painting began!
It took a couple days to do both coats because apparently I didn't buy enough paint brushes so we had to keep rinsing them out and letting them dry in between coats.

After they were all painted the kids told me where to glue their letters and wood shapes on. I glued them on with good ol' Elmer's wood glue.

Finally I sprayed them with a sealer and they were done!

C's - We added felt flowers to this one.

T's - The bird is pecking the ground.

And finally K's

The kids had fun and I think they turned out cute!
