craft fair

Anona and I are again giving ourselves MORE work and putting on a local craft fair. We hosted one in the spring, had a lot of fun, and hoping to actually make this a more regular thing.
The event will take place at an awesome local coffee shop CAFE NOTO!
Located at 630 McClelland Drive in Windsor Ca.
They will also have a barista on staff so you can get delicious coffee to drink while you peruse the crafters tables...
We hope you are able to make it and say hi. We will have all our new products from our Etsy store available and new fabric choices that we are SOOOO excited about!
hint, hint....think blue!!!

If you are interested in participating in the craft show please contact us. We would love to get more people involved :)

Teacher Appreciation

All three of my kids are in school this year (yay!), and I really liked all their teachers!!  I actually missed teacher appreciation week, but I still wanted to make something for the kids' teachers before the school year was over. So I decided it would be a fun project for the kids to paint picture frames. It took me awhile, but I finally made my way to the craft store to get the supplies.

These cute frames were on clearance at Michael's for $2.99

I got these letters for each of the teacher's last names

And I got these wood shapes for only $0.29 each

Each of the kids picked out their own colors and wood shape they wanted on their frame and the painting began!
It took a couple days to do both coats because apparently I didn't buy enough paint brushes so we had to keep rinsing them out and letting them dry in between coats.

After they were all painted the kids told me where to glue their letters and wood shapes on. I glued them on with good ol' Elmer's wood glue.

Finally I sprayed them with a sealer and they were done!

C's - We added felt flowers to this one.

T's - The bird is pecking the ground.

And finally K's

The kids had fun and I think they turned out cute!

new products in our etsy shop

in the last few weeks we have done an overhaul on our lil shop and updated it. including adding new products that we are super excited about. a few months ago anona and i decided that we should try something new in our shop. so as previously blogged about we went out and purchased some amazing fabrics...

our goal was to have a common theme running through all of our products...all the fabrics could work together! we loved it and ran with it. we also wanted to make products from adults to babies. last week we released our 2013 line and are so excited about it. we have hair bows and bow ties to burp cloths and onesies.

i hope you will go and check our our updated shop pinkgingerdesign.etsy.com

hope you enjoyed your weekend!

DIY Glass Magnets

Sup fellow crafters...
Have you seen those really cool magnets that look like a bubble with a really cool picture abstracted in the back. I love them and was inspired to make some of my own. Its a cute gift idea too, thats what mine are for.

Supplies:
Craft Glue/Super Glue (clear drying)
Clear Accent Gems (mine have a kinda rainbow look to them)
Strong Magnets
Hot Glue Gun
Felt
Card stock (white)
Gloves (optional)
...looking back I would wear them next time especially
working with super glue, cuz it was all over my hands
and took me hours of scrubbing to get it all off :(

(1) Measure your stones to get an approx. size. (mine were 1.25")
(2) Print out you images to that size on the card stock.
(3) Cut them out. They don't have to be perfect but you just need to make sure that they do cover the whole back of your stone.

(4) Put a small circle of glue on the back. Make sure to do a drop.
(5) Press down gently and turn over.
(6) Gently press down and make sure all of the bubbles disappear. Let dry. go around and cut the excess paper off the stone. Get as close of a cut as you can.
(7) Cut a small felt circle and hot glue it on the back side. Put a dollop on the felt and firmly press the magnet into the felt.

Ta-da

(not the best picture - late at night crafting again)

I love them...and such and awesome, cheap gift idea that is totally customizable!

Monday, Monday

Ok, so here goes my first attempt at this blog thing...!!

Mondays for me are so unpredictable.  Sometimes I have absolutely no motivation after the weekend to do anything.  Well it didn't matter today whether I did or not since my day was pretty much filled already.  First things first, volunteer in my two youngest kids' classes. So off to my middle child's 1st grade class.  We read a short story in groups about the Lion and the Mouse and answered some questions.  Pretty easy!  And thankfully the kids didn't get too crazy this week with talk of bodily functions or video games (unlike weeks in the past)!

Next it was off to my youngest's Pre-K class.  (Well besides the 1/2 hour I had to kill and ran to Walmart...boring).  I had forgotten that his teacher told me they were going to have a substitute and she had no idea I was coming, so therefore had absolutely nothing planned for me to do.  So I spent the next 45 minutes or so chatting with the substitute while watching 5 year olds make shapes with rubberbands, sort frogs, build houses with wooden blocks, and make patterns with plastic cubes. They are so cute and entertaining!!

Rachel and I had plans to go to the fabric store after I was finished!! We had tons of fun picking out fabric! Everything is so cute I wanted to buy it all!! But we finally settled on these! I can't wait to get started on our projects!

This afternoon I knew my oldest daughter had to work on finishing her science project (something I've been dreading).  Well the experiment was already done, but we had to work on the board. After about 2 hours we finally finished!! Here's the finished product. She was so happy!!

Well that was my Monday.  How was yours?
